Hello!
I am an Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Houston, specializing in Applied Microeconomics and Political Economy.
I completed the M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Oxford, where I subsequently held appointments as a Fellow at Mansfield College and a Lecturer at Trinity College. I have been a visiting researcher at Harvard University, UCL, the University of Stuttgart, the University of Venice, and the European University Institute.
My research explores the causes and consequences of economic, social, and political disparities, with particular attention to the U.S. South and the 1965 Voting Rights Act (VRA). My work on these topics has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, Economics & Politics, and the Oxford Review of Economic Policy.
My ongoing research examines how institutional reforms shape inequality, especially in historical contexts where the legacies of past institutions persist today.
